10-hour workday

10-hour workday

I recently read an interview with Mike Abel head of M&C Saatchi in Australia (large advertising agency) where he was quoted as saying “If you can’t do your job in a 10-hour day during the week, you’re either overworked or incompetent.” It had me thinking.

As a small business owner, I understand the need to work hard and perhaps work more than 10 hours a day on occasion but I guess that extra time 'in the office' comes at a cost.  I guess it is sustainable in the short term only.  I also noticed recently a number of education/networking events that were being offered over a full weekend. I guess that means a 7-day working week. So what's better, 7 days or 5 longer days - perhaps neither.

Perhaps from my corporate days, I have an unwritten rule in my life/business that I don’t attend functions/events on weekends.

Where is the line though when you are a small business owner and need at least 5 days to work in your business? I don’t have the answer; Drop me a line to discuss....

Until next time!

Is your logo/brand trademarked?

Is your logo/brand trademarked?

Having your business logo trademarked provides your business with a level of legal protection/certainty that a competitor in your industry can’t copy your brand and piggyback on your success.

I am really pleased that the Next Marketing logo has recently been officially passed all the steps in the IP Australia process to become officially a registered brand in Australia.

The process took approx 12 months and I followed the TM Head start model. If you would like to protect your logo, drop me a line and I am more than happy to share with you how I did it.
