Doing a ring around…
A couple of weeks ago I decided to follow my own advice and do a ring around/catch up with some potential clients that I hadn’t heard from in a while. Aside from the fact that I picked up some new work, I was pleasantly surprised to hear about a company who was doing exceptionally well.
This particular contact owns a mattress factory and I thought that they might be feeling the ‘economic downturn’. Apparently not. In fact, the first quarter of 2009 was their busiest ever (they have been in business for several years) and the rest of the year looks even more promising. I asked during the conversation what they believed had contributed to this outstanding success and the answer was excessive advertising and the signing up of new dealers/retailers. I guess it really highlights that now is as good as time as ever to get out there and grow your business.
Until next time!

Popular Australian websites
Each year, Hitwise, a company that provides insights into website trends and usage, publishes a report that lists Australian websites/companies in over 100+ categories who are the market leader in their field. So, if you would like to know which website in your category gets the most traffic, I would highly recommend this report. Two great things about this report are that it is free (yep – it really is) and covers Australian websites only. If you would like to request a copy of this report – click here.

Making good on a past wrong
I was reflecting recently on an advertisement for a skin clinic that I saw in my local Leader newspaper. Last year, I had seen a similar ad from this clinic and was compelled by the offer/company enough to make an appointment to visit the clinic. In short, the customer service was appalling and I have no plans to go back.
If in the past your customer service (or another aspect of your business) hasn’t been what you wanted it to be and your strategy is to try and compel ‘lost customers’ back to your business, consider a marketing campaign that addresses your past faults. In this clinics instance, an “Improved waiting times” headline would have been enough for me to consider going back. But until then, I will be spending my money elsewhere.
